Junior Class History
Dear Diary:
Septemher:
I know you simply cannot imagine all the wonderful things we juniors shall have
to conhde in you now that school has started.
Tonight, we took the Freshies on a roast to Shaw's woods. I'm sure they enjoyed
themselves in spite of the fact that we deemed it necessary to use a little stove hlackf
cning on them to give a little "color" to initiation services. Plenty of "hot dogs" com'
pensated a little.
Today, we organized, dear Diary, and elected Harvey Linder president, Roy
Amstutz, vicc presidentg Margaret Sykes, treasurerg Verda Metz, secretary, and Miss
Cahill as our adviser. We decided to keep green and white as our class colors, and
selected the sweet pea as our flower.
Tonight, the Freshies entertained us quite royally at the house of Katharine Fulf
ton. It was a glorious night, so we played games on the lawn. And what quantities
of ice cream and cake they served us!
Octoher:
Tonight, we sponsored an oldffashioned Box Social after the regular P. T. A.
meeting. What fun it was! Some of the hoxes sold quite high considering we have a
depression! So we made several dollars, onefthird of which we gave to the P. T. A.
Hallowe'cnffthis is the occasion for our higgest activity up to date. Tonight, we
sponsored a High School Party. Cornstalks, pumpkins, halloons, ghosts, and jackfof
lanterns decorated the "gym", Booths, containing side shows and food to sell, lined
the walls. Whistles and masked students in costumes added to the festival air. Isaf
helle Buchanan and Russell Schmollinger received prizes for heing the hest costumed.
The pop-corn, cider, pumpkin pies, hot dogs, and candy which we sold netted us a
gain. But did we work!
Decemher:
We were not actively interested in any particular thing last month-'except
Thanksgiving vacation. This month we are gay at the prospect of a tenfday Christmas
Holiday. However, dear Diary, we are sad at the prospect of losing one of our class
mcmhers. Russell Harris is moving to Coshocton. C. H. S. will miss hoth Russell and
Carl!
Tonight, just a few days hefore Christmas, we gave the Harris's a farewell party.
The Sophomores joined us in wishing them bon voyage.
January:
Dear Diary, the hcst we can say of this month is that we all sufferedf sand surf
vivedff-midfyear exams,
We are also enjoying the haskethall games. We are very proud to have five
Juniors on the team-Kissinger, Rhoads, Ditch, Linder, and Stahl.
Fehruary:
Today, tryfouts for Dehate were held and Hazel Metz and Roy Amstutz made
the team.
Dear Diary, I am so excited. Last night, I was fortunate enough, or the judges
were kind enough, to give me second place in County Declamation. Lady Luck was
surely my sponsor.
