"I understand you ean't meet your creditors."
"I donlt particularly want to."
Mrs. Mann: "What on earth are you applauding that last singer for? I think she
is terrible."
Mrs. Ladd: "I know, but I like her gown and I want to sec it again."
Perhaps the reason we do not think better of some people is because they already
think so well of themselves.
Being a saleslady in the millinery department one needs to be taetful. A saleslady
said to a customer: "Now this hat makes you look ten years younger, Madam."
Madam: "And when I take it off I shall look ten years older?"
Master: "We must widen this garage door."
Chauffeur: "But it is wide enough sir. A truck could easily get through."
Master: "Yes, I know, but my wife got her driving license yesterday."
Sue and her friend Shirley went to the races and Sue bet ten dollars on a horse
named "Silk Stocking." The horse was a favorite and did fairly well in the first two
heats, but in the third, the horse refused to run. Shirley tried to console Sue for her
loss and was much surprised to hear her reply cheerfully: "Why, Shirley, it was worth
ten dollars to see a silk stocking that Clidn't run."
"Did you make the debating team?"
"Nfnfno, they sfsfsaid I wfwfwasn't tftftall enough."
"You have admitted Smith to your club? But he is such a bore."
"Yes: we wanted somebody to grumble about."
"Well, Bobby, what do you think of your new teacher?"
"Oh, he is not bad in himself, but one canlt rely on what he says."
'LI'Iow is that?"
"First he said 'two and two make four,' and then he said 'three and one make
four' "
