DECLAMATORY CONTEST The Annual Home Declamatory Contest was held December 19, 1922 in the High School Auditorium before a large and inter- ested audience. The Contestants had been well coached by Miss McGhee, the Public Speaking Instructor. They all gave their se- lections unusually well and it was very hard for the judges to choose the winners. First place-Dramatic, "The Coward" ........ Laura Eatinger First Place-Humorous "Cupid and a Cadillac"---Berle Comfort Second place-Oratorical "The Death of Garfield", Marcia Perry Second place-Dramatic, "The Alien" ...... Margaret O'Rourke Second place-Humerous, "The Missionary Box That Scandalized The Village" ........................... Pauline Hurlburt Miriam Reynolds, Laura Eatinger and Berle Comfort took part in the Quadrangular Contest held at Bedford on Feb. 23, 1923 Miriam Reynolds, was given first place in the Oratorical class. Berle Comfort took first place in the Humorous class. Helen Wyand of Bedford was given first place in the Dramatic. The five schools competing in this contest were Clearfield, Gravity, Lenox, Bedford and Creston.
