GLEE CLUB The high school girls' glee club had 36 members under the direction of Miss Monasmith. There were representatives from ihe freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes in the club. This group won rankings of Superior at both the sub-dis- trict and district music contestsg and became state winners by receiving the only Superior given in Class B. This was the first Cresco girls' glee club eligible for competition in the state con- test. A girls' sextette was formed. The regular members were Mary Thomson, Inez Skogsmark, Jane Burgess, Helen Skogsmark, Wilma Mitchell and Ruth Champlin. The substitutes were Audell Betts, June Cook, and Dorothy Wentworth. Twelve

Mixed Chorus Miss Monasmith also did remarkable work with her mixed chorus, and was re- warded by seeing this group, too, receive Superior rating at the state contest ln Iowa. City. The chorus had 37 members-eighteen boys, and nineteen girls. They won rankings of Superior at both the sub-district and district music contests. This was the first time a Cresco mixed chorus cver won through to the state music contest. Inez Skogsmark was the soprano soloist: Jane Burgess, contraltog Daniel Chehak, tenor: and Vern Herold, baritone. They all won Excellent at the sub-district contest. Vern Herold was eligible to compete in the district contest, where he ranked Superior, thus qualifying for the state contest at Iowa City, where he was given a mark of Excellent. Thirteen
