Students strut their stuff in the O how 'em your stuff! Wiggle your bootie, crack those notes, and be the character! Whenever the lights dimmed and the audience hushed, it was assured that yet another fantastic performance was on the way. The time and dedication involved in putting on a show was an overwhelming experience for most. Performers went through a lot of difficulties preparing for a show. Both students and faculty could usually tell which students were in a performance just by the way they looked and acted. Performing is hard because you fight with your friends, don't get any sleep, and your grades go down. But l guess that's good because it teaches you discipline and how to be a better performer, said dance member sophomore Stephanie Batt. But like anything, hard work and hard times went with the fame and stardom of being a performer. Sophomore dance member Yeon Yi Rhee felt rehearsing was similar to a nightmare - like going on a date with Pee Wee Herman. But it's worth it because of all the recognition and compliments you get afterward. Others tried to ignore the struggle and concentrate only upon the rewarding feelings afterward. lt was a thrill for most to sing, dance, or act on stage because of the boost it gave a person's character. Senior, choir member Jackie Dunbar said, To be on stage is the best feeling in the world. lt's great when you know you're good and are conveying that feeling to the audience. Drama member, senior Eric Graves said, When l'm on stage I rarely know what's going on. l am up there and the words just come out. lt's like a natural high. Additionally, it gave students the opportunity to feel and act differently than they would act around school. Senior dance member Audrey Hill commented, When l perform I feel like another person. On stage you can be anyone. The thrill of performing for an audience was an exciting feeling for most. Most students recalled these familiar bulletin notices reminding them that they belonged to a club. But why did they join a club in the first place? Below are some of the frequent replies students gave for joining a club. 1. looked good on college applications - Counselors are pushing us to have extra- curricular activities.
