angudge LYALL YOUNG Head of Language Dept. Crawfordites are becoming more cmd more conscious of foreign affairs as is indicated by the great interest taken in foreign language classes this year. The Language Department consisted of four French classes, four German classes, four Latin classes and thirteen Spanish classes. Our 58,000 language lab, finished and open this year for the use of the foreign language classes, consisted of 32 booths at which the students could either listen to tapes of the voices of native speakers or concentrate on their own spoken mastery of the language. cf! agncluzt fries! .fdrffi ine .fdrffs The Industrial Arts program develops manipula- tive skills and provides opportunity for creative activities. Safe practices in the use and care of supplies, tools, and equipment are emphasized. The ability to make simple home repairs and to select industrial products and services are stressed. The work of Miss Thompson with the Choir and Ensemble, along with that of Mr. Green, in charge of the band and orchestra, resulted in the presenta- tion of many fine vocal and instrumental accom- plishments. The Drama Department presented Craw- ford with two excellent plays, while the art classes were a challenge to the imaginative art student in areas of drawing, portrait painting, and color and design. Since the math program was accelerated this year to meet the rising math standards required by many colleges and by the San Diego school system, students were required to work harder and learn more than ever before.
