Cranbrook Society Of Tactical And Strategic Simulations OFFICERS: Ed Noall, Marc Shimabukuro, Tom Borninski. Cranbrook Society of Tactical and Strategic Simulations: CSoTaSS was founded September 29, 1982, by a group of pioneering young men to aid in their quest for achieving the Cranbrook ideal Aim High. On each Saturday members are involved in such activities as evaluating conflicts between nations, raising vast magical armies of undead to conquer and pillage helpless citizenry, or launching space fleets to engage evil for goodl interstellar forces. CSoTaSS employs as vehicles for these events such features as Diplomacy, Third Reich, Traveller, Divine Right, and a small, diehard contingent of Dungeons S Dragons afficionados. This year's hierarchy consists of charter members President Tom L'etat- c'est moi Borninski, Co-President Marc Kamakazi Shimabukuro, and Vice-President Ed Revenge at any cost Noall. Many observers, commenting on the tense, expectant atmosphere in the chamber, reported having been exposed to frequent explosive tirades like: - WHAT DO YOU MEAN the Black Hand can't participate in a siege?! - You're darn right I can convoy through Denmark! - I'm not going to attack your country. You can trust me. - Beam me up, Scotty. This first yearbook appearance of CSoTaSS is dedicated to Doug The lron Hand Williamson, Class of 1983, our founding father. Doug's philosophy for club organization was that of This is a self-appointed democracy. An occasion which exemplified this precept was the past election of officers when he said, Any member can vote on any issue, but only mine counts.

Gallimaufr X.. X! 5 Left to Right: David Rising, Brian Walsh, Marjorie Goldman, Simon Billig No, l don't think so .... lt's too pretentious. lb-lobody'd believe we were for real. But l don't think reality is the issue. What we're dealing with is concepts that go beyond reality and into the realm of quality literature. But isn't reality a prerequisite for quality? No, no, a thousand times no! The two are mutually exclusive. So where does that leave us? Lost. Drifting on a sea of questionable literature. Sifting the sands of prose and poetry to find the few grains of publishable material. Searching frantically for boatloads of submissions that we seem to have lost. Facing a deadline with barely enough accepted pieces to fill a classified ad in The Village Voice. So what do we do? Hide. 'The majority of men lead lives of quiet desperation, lyou know. -Dave 8 Brian l. Henry David Thoreau
