Lettermen's club--FRONT: Doug Cutting, Donnie McCliu'e, Kathie Thurman, Debra Folger, Rita Blenden, The Lettermen's Club at Cowley County Community College had its members, any person who went out for any kind of inter- collegiate sports. Formed fifteen years ago, the group has grown to attain a large membership. Meetings were held once a month on Wed- nesday evenings at 7:30 in the lounge. For a special speaker, Reverend Grout met with the group. President for 1970- 1971 was Mike Mc- Clure. Advisors were Mr. Cleveland, foot- ball coach, and Mr. Heidebrecht, basket- ball coach. Steve Hollingsworth, Mike Van Meter. SECOND: Ray Nash, David Monares, Allan Darnall, Lowell Har- grove, Steve Long, Rodney Jennings. THIRD: David Eslick, Lynn Graham, Chuck Nettrourer, Mike McClure. FOURTH: Kendall White, Mike Miller, Tom Smith, joe Wilson, Alvin Brown, Kenny Webber, and . . OFFICER Tiger Action Club, an organization created to promote school spirit for all school func- tions, is the largest organization in the school. For 1970-1971, the TAC had 90 members plus 2 advisors: Mrs. Coats and Mrs. jimison. Any student at CCCC was invited to join the club. On September 10, 1970, the Tiger Action Club held a bonfire and pep rally for the school at Carver Field. TAC members helped with Parent's Day on October 3. During the year, the club sponsored two bus trips to out-of- town games, one to the Coffeyville football game on October 17, and the other to the bas- ketball game january 26 at Butler County. Af- ter the Pratt Basketball game, TAC held an all school dance in the college auditorium. To boost school spirit, members painted posters for all games. They also sold CCCJC football and basketball booster buttons. A spe- cial section was designated for all Tiger Ac- tion Club members to sit at games. The cheerleaders for 1970-1971 enthusiastically aroused spirit in the student body to support the athletic CCCC teams. Previous to several of the football and basketball games, the cheerleaders con- ducted pep assemblies in the college auditorium. They supported the team by attending all home games and all but one out-of-town game. During the summer of 1970, 3 of the girls: Penny Pattong Janis Woodg and Rita Blenden attended a cheerleading camp at Sam Houston State University at Huntsville, Texas. They Won 8 superior ratings and the spirit stick during the week they were there. Sophomore cheerleaders were Melinda Mclntire, Penny Patton, Janis Wood, and Rita Blenden. Fresh men were Pam Hope., Marsha Kreyer, Debbie Neitzke, and Peggy I-Ienry. Mrs. Coats and Mrs. jimison were the advisors for the past year. tiger action club and cheerleaders in action Y' 49' fa.
