Cited for her performance during the Okinawan campaign, the COWFLL received the Presidential Unit Citation. Her guns destroyed twenty enemy aircraft. The COWELL remained as a unit of the occupa- tion forces prior to her returning to the United States for inactivation in july 1946. She was re- commissioned in july 1951, for service with the Seventh Fleet in Korean waters during the winter of 1953, where operations against enemy troops, ammunition depots, and land communications were conducted.
