Class Prophecy Here it is 19675 and we are on our way, in BARB WllSON'S Pontiac, to visit our friends of the Class of 1957. We have our radio turned to the Grand Ol' Opry, and hear SHIRL MOON singing her latest hit song, Green Patent Leather Shoes which literally sent Elvis Presley back to truck driving! Oops! Better slow down! Here comes State Policeman, EUGENE IAMPHIER, on his motorcycle. We learn later at VIRGINIA MOON'S diner, THE GREASY SPOON , that he was on his way to check on WALTER ROSS who was speeding around in his new racer--creating a trafic hazard as usual! While we are eating lunch at Ginny's, NATALIE LARRISON walks in with her twin boys. Looks like Nat got her other ring! From Nat we learn that ROSE TAFT and her husband own a horse ranch out West. They employ ROSE WOOD as trainer. As we leave the Diner, we see a low flying jet. Well, look at the handsome pilot--SIR DALE GUNN , Fsquire! We hear that he took the silo right off CHARLIE BOOM'S farm. RONNIE HATCHER, CARROLL DOAN, and ARTHUR SCHMIDT, also farmers, give Charlie all their support in suing Dale for damages. As we walk down the street, we see .1 Beauty Salon, owned and operated by ELSIE POTTER. DONNA CARD and SHIRLEY GRAFF work UQ as her assistants. SHARON CARR advertises Carr's HAPPY CHAPPY HAND LOTION, guaranteed to chap, crack, and dry your skin. Well, who is this? GAYLE LF.ICHl.ITF.R is coming in for a shampoo and manicure. Gayle is now a model on the BIG SHOW OFF . She mentions that MAUREEN LOVEL has her own Comedy Show, BLUE BONES fwhat happened to Red Skelton?j, which features DAVID ANTHONY as dancer. BARBARA TUBBS, Maureen's secretary, is in Bellevue Hospital recover- ing from a fit of laughter, as a result of typing Maureen's script! We visit Barb and are amazed to see GENE STAFFORD in an interns uniform Qcould it be that he will be a Doc after all?I He tells us that BRENDA BUFFARD is well on her way to becoming head phwical therapist. ls that why they call her Bender '? ANN WATKINS and GAII. FITZWATER have become top medical secretaries and are planning to return to our hometown soon. Due to a booming new business, owned by BILL ALLEN, assisted bg-:ngineers JOHN HFGMANN and HOMER BEBOUT, Westfield is now large enough to support a Travel Bureau. As we enter it, we d JANE KIIBURN making reservations for her next trip a- broad. JOYCE YAMER is reservationist. During our conversation with Joyce, we learn that MAX ATWELL has a fine job as sec- retary for a Knitting Mill owned and operated by BRAD RICE. He went crazy over needles and Home Ec. teachers! To our amazement we see around the corner a large, beautiful Mansion! No! ! It's the Cowanesque Valley Joint High School of 1967, COMPLETED ONLY A WEEK AGO. Back of the school we see a large playground full of many screeching children, and in their group a fiustered teacher. Why it's PEG SMITH! She is now scolding a small blond boy, who is one of CAROL DOREMUS'S fDAVlSy six boys. Peggy tells us that BETH HOLLAND and RUBY SKINNER head the Home Ee. Department. Teaching English are MARY LYN ERWIN and ANN CUNNINGHAM. MARY LOU BUELL helps in kindergarten. MARY ANN DOUGLASS is fourth grade teacher, and LOIS WATKINS is basketball coach! ! ! We go into the school and to the door marked 0f:Ece . We knock lightly and a familiar voice tells us to come in. VVhen we open the door, we see LUCY PLANK sitting behind a typewriter, on her desk a sign reads SCHOOL SECRETARY. We learn that MARY FORSBERG is the school nurse, after chatting awhile we decide to leave. As we do so we recognize the janitor to be BOB MILLER. As we drive back to town, we run out of gas. So, we stop at a local service station and ind that GENE KOLESAR has the same old job--piunping gas. He tells us that JON WIl.LlAMS and l.LOYD TREAT are making a career of the Army, and DALE DRAUCKER of the Navy. Back in town we notice a new Dress Shoppe by the name of FLORIES . Could it be that FLORA CARY is the owner? We in- vestigate and find that LOIS DRAKE is clerk. She tells us that ESTHER BRUGGER is still in college--she took a long elementary course ! On an electric pole we see a political poster. From that we learn that NANCY VAUGHAN is currently running for Senator on the DEMOCRAT Ticket. Pity the Republicans! ! We pick up a local newspaper and learn that EVELYN DRAPER is doing fine work as a Hotel Chamber Maid Qhousekeeperj. LINDA RUSHMORE works for the bank Qhow long before it will go bankrupt?j GENE WHITE is street cleaner, and as a hobby he manufactures motors that are run by Sugar Jets. As we learn all this of our old classmates we also learn that Mr. SMITH has resigned teaching Qwhen the Physic's Class blew the comer off the new building making Ice Cream, he thought that that was too n1uch!j. Mr. HEYLER has produced enough new hybrid plants to retire and is now devoting all his time to his chickens. 32
