STUDENT BODY ENTERTAINMENT Quiet please, the show is going on. Up comes the curtain and the action begins! This year short programs were introduced in student body. They have fulfilled a double purpose of adding interest to meetings and giving the students an opportunity to use their talent and hobbies. Each month a committee of two people under the guidance of a teacher, scouted around for entertaining talent among the students. We have had tap dances, Chinese and lapanese native dances, singers, community singing, one- act plays, instrumentalists, games, and speakers. Elena Cortopassi standing alone, Asking this in her loudest tone, And the student meeting is under way. STUDENT BODY NOTES We consider this a very happy and successful term in our Courtland High School Student Association. The students have proved, by their cooperation at our meetings, the desire to keep Courtland a pleasant place to be. The accomplishments of the officers and members have been many. At the monthly meetings entertain- ments have been successfully staged under the direc- tion of Elena Cortopassi and a committee of students and faculty. The student body gave sweaters to La Verne Cunha and Ardell Goodman, our yell leaders, and lack Edinger, our athletic manager. Final approval was given by the student body to grant sweaters to the boys on the C basketball team. Carrying on Christmas season customs at Courtland, a Christmas tree adorned the main hall at the school. The elected officers for this year are: Elena Corto- passi, president Alvin Ostman, vice-president, Louis Furushiro, secretary, Laura I-ling, treasurer, lack Howard, collector. O . Hutchinson. IUNIOR RED CROSS Under the direction of Miss Barrett, Courtland High School has joined the Iunior Red Cross Society. The aim of this organization is to help the needy. ecided that the council was to be made up of the student body officers and one representative from each class. The meetings are held once a month. Mending library books, putting stiff covers on magazines and keeping the library shelves in order, and helping neighbors when help is needed are some of the duties of the members of the lunior Bed Cross. ln February, a doughnut sale was held by this organization to raise money for this year's Red Cross ln organizing the Iunior Red Cross, it was d Emergency Fund.
