emor Class History Webster says that a panorama is a sweeping view or scene As off icial historian for the class of 1959, I would like to reach back into time and the shadows of the past and allow you to catch a retrospective panoramic glimpse of the four year span composing the life of the class Let's start back in the distance to the left Here we see a group of meek, frightened students huddled together, afraid to venture either verbally or physically very far from the combined group strength of fami liar allies Now and then one of those of a more adventurous nature steps out beyond the protection of the group only to be cut down by the sharp tongue and insulting taunts of the upper classmen Freshmen yes the ad justing and growing time of any high school life After a few weeks these find themselves becoming more and more a part of the larger group Their activities begin to broaden, and their interests extend 1nto every phase of school life Of course they have to fall back most of the time and let the upper classmen take the lead, else they could not be l1ved with peaceably There were lk of us who started that year They were as fol lows Karen Baumgartner, Lorraine Palmer, Barbara Tanata, Wanda Wraal stad, Barbara Hockert, Lorna Vigesaa, Harlan McKenzie, Larry Miklas, Lowell Larson, Gerald A Neva, Gerald R Neva, James Drong, Fredrick Tanata, and Bernard Backer Coming a little closer towards center we see another group the sophmores They are intent on making life miserable for the fresh men They are a bit too cocky and have an over abundance of self assurance and confidence They are still having to make some adjustments to high school life, but on the whole they are doing exceptionally well Progressing, just to the right of center we find a third group, the from the class have found places of leadership 1n all the various pha ses of school life As the year progresses, we see the group entering first into the field of dramatics and later into the realm ef society The junior play, 'Betty's Last Bet,' is a hugh success The junior senior banquet, sponsored by the Juniors 13 another very popular attrac tion The banquet and prom were both held on May 7th, with the banquet being held at the Gladstone Cafe in Jamestown and the prom held at Ken sal The seniors looked as if they really enjoyed it Then on to the extreme right we find the seniors This is the big year They elected Bernard Backer, President, Barbara Tanata Vice President, Karen Baumgartner, Sec Treas , and Wanda Wraalstad, Stu dent Council to lead them through the final year The seniors are the top leadersin everything After all, they have spent three years building up to it They too present a play It is entitled 'Gallop1ng Ghosts' It is well done and graciously received by the audience We look a little farther right and see the seniors receiving their awards Then comes the grand finale commencement Diplomas were awarded to Lorraine Palmer, Barbara Tanata, Wanda Wraalstad, Karen Baumgartner, Marilyn Schoeler, Barbara Hockert, James Drong, Bernard Backer, Larry Miklas, Harlan McKenzie, and Lowell Larson And so the panorama fades from view 0 o . ' , , juniors. This group has hit its stride in good fashion. Individuals
