Girls Varsity Volleyball VARSITY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team entered the 1987-88 season with opti- mism and enthusiasm. With seven re- turning Varsity letterman. they an- ticipated much success. Under the coaching of Tomi Krenzie, the girls gained valuable knowledge and ex- perience. Although the Pacific Coast League remains one of the toughest in C.I.F., three teams of which are ranked in the top ten. the mustangs came out fighting. The girls played an intense game against Orange, but narrowly lost with a heartbreaking score of 20-18. Their entire season was very similar to that game. Team Captains, Kim Jordan and Tracy Sco- field, provided helpful encourage- ment and respectable leadership throughout the season. Both Emily Creely and Stacy White received the Most Improved award for their tre- mendous effort and dedication, while Denise Surmon gained the Most In- spirational award. Sherry Norton. JV Volleyball J.V. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL The J.V. Girls ' Volleyball team had an outstanding season, holding a record of 6-4 and placing third in league. They were coached by Charles Cutenese, with Rainy Lentz as their manager. They started off the 1987-88 season by winning their first three games, but then lost to Woodbridge, the league champions, by two points. All the girls felt extremely good about the game, having given it all they had. Throughout the season the Mustang fighters showed dedication and an intense desire to win. They were led by Team Captain My-Ngoc Pham, whose outstanding performances also gained her the team ' s Most Valuable Player award. The Coach ' s Award went to Rose Nabong, while Shannon Austin and Jamy Thomas received Most Improved.
