ry?. JV Foo tball JUNrOR VARSITY FOOTBALL The Junior Varsity Football Team was coached by John Carney. They achieved much success during the 1987-88 season, finishing with a record of 2-3 and placing a re- spectable third in league. During preseason, they played exceptionally well, easily defeating San- tiago, Los Alamitos, and Katella. Although they did not win league, all team members worked hard and showed extreme dedication to the game of football. The boys ' main goal was to strive for their full po- tential, which they did admirably well. The J.V. Team should feel proud, having never given up their goal to be the best they can be. Freshman Football FRESHMAN FOOTBALL Strong determination and drive led the 1987-88 Freshman Football team to one of it ' s best seasons. They had an out- standing year, finishing with an overall record of 8-2, league record of 4-1. and placing a well deserved second in the Pacific Coast. All season, the mustangs battled to win the Pacific Coast League Title. They played Orange High for the championship and were defeated by the score of 7-12. It was extremely difficult for the players to accept the loss, since they strove the entire season to be number one. The mus- tangs never gave up fighting and this will to succeed ranked them number one in other ' s eyes. The team coach was Neil Peek, a key figure who sparked the mustang fighters to victory. Outstanding players that had a major role in the team ' s success were Most Valuable Player, Tommy Nguyen; Most Improved, James Rodriguez; and Team Captain. Dubie Ospina. The future looks promising with these exceptional players continuin g to J.V. and Varsity. Bring the ball this way. The easy way to make three. Stick! 5- LI
