There are countless reasons why this day of returning to school strikes fear and grief into the hearts of many. ■ It ' s the only day that teachers are crankier than usual. ■ You haven ' t finished your homework. You are unaccustomed to waking up early. ■ The weekend is over. - You have to face the people who saw you at the party Satur- day night when you weren ' t quite yourself. - Everything that was fun during the weekend is over. ■ You have to face the problems that you postponed on Friday. ■ You have to start thinking again. - You have no money left from your weekend spending sprees. - While you were grounded over the weekend your special somebody found somebody new. - There are five days left until the weekend. - There are nearly 400.000 seconds until the weekend. - It ' s the only day of the week when you have major assign- ments due in all your classes. - Monday is always the only day you ditch all year and your teacher takes roll. ■ It ' s usually a Monday when you ' re running late, you get a speeding ticket from OFFICER KUTCH. the traffic turning into school is backed up to Adams and you drop all your books and papers as you race to class, already 10 min. tardy. ■ Most suicides occur on Monday unless it ' s a three-day weekend.
