oung Players Lead Girl Cagers To Success Girl's Basketball has had an excellent season, unlike those of past years. Coached by Manley and Deniege Feducia, the feminine Mustangs had a 10-4 record on the Varsity and a 9-5 on the Junior Varsity level. Varsity lost a lot of close games to some very big teams, including a 37-31 loss at the hand of Corona del Mar and another heartbreaker to Mission Viejo, one of the top teams in girls CIF. Varsity stars were seniors Connie Dietzel, K.C. Clark and Kelly Doyle, along with Carol Krikorian and Sissy Kennedy. The J.V.'s dominated teams because of their darting quickness and graceful agility with high scorers being freshmen Valerie Grady, Pam Bagstad, and top scorer Joanne Lux. restling Strong ut Lacking Dedicated People Upset, was the story of the Varsity Grappling season. With twenty-nine potential wrestlers quit- ing the squad, key weight positions were lost as the year progressed. Despite these circumstances, the team showed much strength. Unfortunately, victories were hard to come by due to continual forfeit of eighteen to twenty-four points a match. Those players who did remain added strength and true dedication to the squad. Out of these, six players had league championship and CIF potential. Dale lmoto, last year's league champ, placed third in the Las Vegas and Costa Mesa Wrestling Invitationals. Also, Frank Elbourn, a fifth place winner at Las Vegas, continued strongly in league. Other members included Mike Scarlett, Dale McAllister, a sophomore, Ken Arumora, and Kevin lmoto, a sixth place finisher at Las Vegas. Next year should prove to be successful for those well-seasoned athletes who hope to take league finals and CIF. I. Dale Imoto demonstrates a crossbody cradle. 2. Varsity warms up before a match. 3.
