Volleyball Finishes Good League Year The Varsity Volleyball team completed another suc- cessful year of Volleyball action, with seniors Connie Dietzel and Jill Freeman named as Honorable Mention South Coast league players. Playing with six returning members and five Junior Varsity players from last year's team, the squad finished fifth in the toughest high school league in the nation. The team defeated Dana Hills and El Toro during the season and upset the Tritons of San Clemente in the second round. Other victims included Irvine High School and Westminister. Connie Dietzel led the offense, earning Most Valu- able Player honors, while Jill Freeman was voted cap- tain. Carol Krikorian was named Defensive playerg Jen- nifer Dies, Most Inspirationalg and, Michelle Deyden, Most Improved. Coach Pattisonls comment on the season: The team played much better the second half of the season. .V. Volleyball Has Great Potential Finishing third in the tough Coast league, the Junior Varsity Volleyball team showed tremendous potential as a future league threat. Comprised of seven freshmen and two sophomores, the Mustang squad lost only to Laguna Beach and Corona del Mar, ending with a 10-4 league record. Under the play of captain and setter Stephanie Web- ster and Most Valuable Player Joanne Lux, the squad played consistently in league and almost defeated the Sea Kings in second round action. The team, 'fthe most talented group of players to come into the school together, also participated in the Huntington Beach High School Junior Varsity Volley- ball Tournament. Freshman Kathy Mollica was named to the All-Tournament team.
