Mesa Soccer Squads End Successful Second Year The Mustang Soccer team for 1978 played very well for only their second year in existence. The addition of a Frosh-Soph team has added to the strong school participation in this sport. Over seventy players came out for the teams this year, which is well over the thirty- five that came out for last yearls squad. Playing with only four seniors, the Varsity had a good, experience-filled season that promises a great nucleus for next year, along with some promising J.V. players. Excellent contributors all year were two-year letter- men, Mark Krieger and Greg McLeod along with new- comer Greg Potjes and football player Bob Wade. Coach Joe Fischer ended his second year as coach and was very surprised at the way soccer grew at Costa Mesa High in just two short years. He sites team to- getherness for this year's successful season and hopes it continues at Mesa in years to come. l. Freshman Greg Potjes uses extreme head force as he Heads the ball to a teammate. 2. Two-year man Manuel Torres concentrates intensely as he shoots for a Mustang goal.
