a happening, as the dictionary defines it, is something which takes place or occurs. so much happened at marty's corral: there were booths, rides, games and other attractions. but it Was especially the people who made it a happening: people who Worked for months before to plan and publicize, people who ran the booths and sold tickets, people who came to have fun, and those who stayed to help clean up after three days of cotton candy, chile dogs, being arrested by the varsi- ty club sheriffs, and getting sick after going on the rides. these are the things and the people which made marty's corral a happening. 28 martyfs corral
