This year the advisors of G.A.A. chose Darleen Brown as Girl of the Year. She was given this award because of the outstanding work s he accomplished within the many activities of the association. The captain, Sharon Latimer, kept her team in top condition with various fielding and batting exercises. A tremen- dous school spirit and good sportsmanship was evident at their playday, held May 12th, against Laguna, Harbor, and Corona. BA DM IN TON Teamwork and sportsmanship were the goals of this year's G.A.A. badminton team. The girls used their ability to produce a great team and enjoyed playing co- educational badminton after school as an extracurricular activity. Miller, S. Wartlx, I. Graham. POWDER PUFF This year, Mesa held its second annual Powder Puff game between junior and Senior girls. The game was close, and neither team was able to score, but victory was given to the Seniors on the basis of first downs and yardage gained. On the Senior team, Linda O'Brien and Lana Been were captains, Pat Willis was Most Valuable, and jo Forman was Most Inspirational. On the junior team, Joyce Brown and Donna Fuller were captains, Elaine Bennett and Corrie Schadee were Most Valuable Offensive Players, and Diane Guffy and Wiona Schonert were Most Valuable De- fensive Players.
