MOSS COACH WILLIAMSON BEE Coach Ken Williamson's Bee team had its share of losses this year but this was because of last year's Gee team members jump to junior Varsity, leaving only a few with the Bee's. Don Crowley led the scoring in the majority of the games as he hit for over twenty, manytimes. Ron Moss was the play- maker for the team for most of the season and he hit for baskets many times that turned the tide to the Mustang's favor. When Moss was out in the middle of the season, jeff Kazmer took over and hit for 12 points in his best game. The team set a scoring record of 75 points against Garden Grove. Moss was voted team Captain and Crowley was Most Valuable, Allen Herman received Most Improved. 1st round 2nd round Bolsa Grande 70 Mesa 55 69 - 47 Garden Grove 29 Mesa 47 49 - 75 Fullerton 44 Mesa 35 52 - 44 Orange 41 Mesa 50 58 - 43 Savanna 57 Mesa 42 41 - 52 Buena Park 64 Mesa 54 64 - 54 Newport Harbor 57 Mesa 43 69 - 52 ROW 1: R. J 5 COACH CHIVINGTON CAPTAIN B. CARRIDO UNI OR VA RSITT The Junior Varsity, coached by Tom Chiving- ton, had one of the best records in Mustang annals. The team missed the championship by about two games. They were the only Mesa basketball team to beat Newport twice. Steve Jacobsen, possible Varsity material, sparked many last minute drives with his new moves and outside shooting. Bart Carrido was one of the best shooters in the league. To the fans' delight little Q5'7 D Carrido drove underneath and flipped up many a shot through the bigger opponents. Mark Laney, the most rugged rebounder on the team, took down 14 against Buena Park. Ed Babiuch was high scorer in several games. Carrido was voted Captain and Most Valuable by the rest of the team.
