GERMAN CLUB Promising a greater interest in the study of the German language as a cultural and scientific communication was the main objective of the German Club. This club also provided the opportunity for the study of Germany, especially its geography, people and culture. QUILL Cd SCROLL The International Honorary Society for High School jour- nalists, along with the journalism teachers at Mesa, se- lected these students to become members of Quill and Scroll. Students from the Hitching Post and the Roundup were chosen for their outstanding work in their field of journalism. Since this was an international organization they received the club pin, a certificate of membership, and a bi-monthly magazine. CHESS CLUB Chess Club members enjoyed improving their skills in chess this year. They learned different techniques by playing the game every Thursday after school. The club also had matches between Mesa, Harbor, and Corona High Schools. They had a booth at Mar- ty's Corral for one of their activities.
