A Message From Mr. J. F. SCHENK Superintendent of Schools TO THE CLASS OF l945: After two decades of sophistication, depression and cynicism, we find ourselves in an age of heroism. From the sound sub- stratum of our homes, churches, schools and communities has sprung a race of heroes. An army officer says: Our kids, American boys, are iust kind of automatically wonderful. Just through our own way of life they get something that makes them superior fighters. They don't have to be indoctrinated and have it hammeredrin for months or years. The fighter pilot flies with his heart. The thing that makes him superior in combat is inside him all the time. We are proud of your individual and group achievement. While you have been attending school and growing up, you have attained a capacity to think for yourself, a sense of respon- sibility, a sense of loyalty, a sense of fellow feeling, a love of truth, a love of freedom, and a respect for human dignity. As the class of T945 ioins the throng of potential heroes grow- ing up among us, we commend your selfless devotion to duty and hope that you will dedicate your, lives to freedom and all the ideals of-democracy. J. F. SCHENK, Superintendent of Schools, Corvallis, Oregon. Principal's Message During another year of school with America at war the students of Corvallis Senior High School have at all times been alert and ready to respond to every emergency for the nation and the school. The fine leadership manifested by the members of this senior class will have a lasting influence during the years ahead. They leave this institution with our blessings and good wishes, and we, who are left, pledge ourselves to maintain or improve the present high standards of friendship, sportsmanship and scholarship which they have helped to achieve. R. G. CUNLIFFE, Principal, Corvallis High School, Corvallis, Oregon.
