They met and each band mistook li' the other for Chintimini's tribe. A bloody battle followed wherein. -many braves were killedi Chintimini had guided her i mr , . people to a dense forestg they were all safe. Soon peace was restored and wild rejoicing begagn, but Chintimini was nowhere to be found. Many warriors sought for her in vain. Some believed she perished from the long vigil on the mountaing others said she was a goddess. Ever after the Indians called the mountain Chintimini in memory of the brave maiden who saved them from destruction. . - The white man has conieg and named the mountain Mary's Peak.
