Through their constant efforts, we have the fine teachers and facilities of today in Cortland High School. The Board of Edu- cation Office at 31 Court Street is the hub of school activity, where much vital executive work of our public schools is done. ROCHE Vice-Principal Miss Elizabeth Roche is one of the busiest faculty members in Cortland High School. Besides being Senior Class ad- viser, she finds time to assist underclass- men in selecting their activities. More- over, she aids Dr. Doran in his admini- strative duties. Gratitude for her un- selfish sacrifices is difficult to express. DR. ROBERT J. DORAN Principal Few people realize how fully an educational institution depends upon an active, capable, well-liked principal. A school without such a leader lacks strength and direction. We wish to ex- press our sincere appreciation to Dr. Doran for setting and maintaining such high standards for the students and fac- ulty of Cortland High School. Two Students from each home- room, elected by popular vote, represent their fellow students at meetings and report the CounciI's accomplishments to them. Activities of this group are many and varied. Distributing money among needy clubs, scheduling sponsorship of mixers, and selecting paid assemblies constitute only a small port of their work. The G.O. campaign, solely the responsi- bility of the Student Council, is headed by two captains elected by homeroom representatives. STUDENT COUNCIL OFFlCERS- Seated: dent: P, Vico, Secretary. Membership in the General Organization, whereby students receive a pass tor all home athletic matches and support school functions are sold for one week, after which rewards are given to homerooms in which all students join. A penalty assembly is held for the mem- bers of the losing team, who perform the antics as specified by a committee of the vic- tors, all in fun.
