Because she understood our problems and was willing to advise us, we will always hold her in high esteem. It is difficult for us to adequately express our happiness and honor in dedicating our senior annual to one who has done much for our class. 3 'iT MR. FRANKLYN S. BARRY Q. Barry, Mrs VerNooy, Mr. Vico, Miss Smith, Dr. Higgins. If I were to visit Cortland High School as a stranger there are many things I would hope to find. I should want to see a modern well-equipped building and one that was well kept and attractive. I should look for a school, stalfeglxtwith teachers who were well-trained, pleasant and ever-alert to the many changing prob- lems confronting the young people of to- day. I should look for a student body that was composed of eager, courteous, hard-working boys and girls who knew that the best educational equipment in the world is none too good for the life that lies ahead of them. I should also look for an administration with a genuine under- standing of people and their problems. As one who has visited Cortland High School, I believe a stranger would find, in the largest possible measure, all of these thingsg and all of this set in one of the Stateis Hnest communities dedicated to giving its youth nothing but the best. FRANKLYN S. BARRY ROBERT J. DORAN PRINCIPAL NA NCY WILCOX LIVINGSTON VICE-PRINCIPAL The Senior Class has invited you to visit our school through the pages of their yearbook. We also extend this invitation to you readers because we are proud of C.H.S., and we Want you to see our facilities, faculty, and students. We feel that through pictures and word descriptions the 1954 Co-Hi-An accurately presents A STORY OF CORTLAND HIGH. y You, the members of the class of 1954, have played leading roles in This Story during the past six years. You have been active in athletics, in clubs, in senior activities, and in honor societies. Our aim has been to give you training that will aid you in Writing your own Life Stories. Our Wish for you is that these stories will be filled with success and happiness! f ROBERT J. DORAN NANCY W.
