It was with great embarrassment, accompanied by a Few bright remarlts from Prol.', Stanley. that they realized that they were to occupy the less important chairs. Alter becoming accus- tomed to their surroundings, the new band members settled down and attempted to play a lew notes here and there. By the end ol the year most ol then were able to play their music surprisingly well. The band has played at our assemblies. Football games in yarious parades, such as the V. J, day celebration. ana has giyen seyeral worthfyhile concerts at the State leachers College. The state music clinics at Syracuse, Cortland. ana Nhitesboro, to which several ol the more talented members ol the band were sent proyed to be not only inspir- ational and educational, but also entertaining. Although, because ol the war, there were no state music contests, the band has won high praise at the music Festivals which were held at our school. During the summer, many band members played in a band which was Formed in Cortland under the excellent leadership ol Mr. Stanley.
