may THE COHIAN 4.921 N91 CLASS HISTORY The Senior Class of 1929 looks Wlth pleasure and satisfactlon upon the short span of years whlch lt has spent in the Cortland Hlgh School We entered Hlgh School at the same t1me that Mr Wilcox came here as principal and have spent these past four years under his leadership After the mld point of our Freshman year we orgamzed and elected the following officers Presldent Dorothy Twentyman Vice Presldent Gerald Dexter Secretary Dorothea Seamans Treasurer William Dexter Time rolled on The summer vacation came and went and the Class of 29 assembled as Sophomores As such on April 24 we organized and elected the following officers for our next term President Howard Keagle Vlce President Thelma Cardner Secretary John Wolfe Treasurer Hannah Denson Durmg our stay in the Sophomore room we rece1ved the Allen Cup for the best class dramatlzation by presenting Penrod a dehghtful comedy A worthy scholar final examlnatlons came and the class of 29 became J unlors Taklng our places ln the J unlor room we soon lald out the plans for the ensu 1ng year Early ln March we voted for a class soclal at which we organized and elected the following officers Presldent Thelma Cardner Vice President Wllham Morgan Secretary Hannah Denson Treasurer Robert Burns Later on we presented Young America as our annual play As time flew by we took up our packs and entered the Senior room there to finish our stay m our Alma Mater Becoming accustomed to our routlne as Seniors we tried to follow the p0l1Cl8S set by the preceding graduatmg classes We furmshed another evening of enjoyment when we presented It Pays to Adver tlse On February 28 we held our last but not least important orgamzation and electlon As a result of the election the here mentloned officers were appointed Presldent James Klely Vice President Thelma Schroeder Secretary Phfhp Adessa Treasurer Lillian Cole On the following nlght the annual senlor banquet was held Supper was served in the new cafeteria and the evenlng was spent 1n dancing Scholars of honor work athletes of high quallty and orators of excellent type can be found among the ranks of the class of 29 One of the leading orators Seymour Dunn won the School Elimination Contest in the Nlational Oratorlcal contest and was placed second in the sectional contest at Binghamton As we the members of the senlor class pass from the Cortland High School into the var1ous paths of l1fe we glance over the record of our past four years and feel satisfied that we hay e tried to lne up to the hlgh ldeals set by prey 1ous classes It would be ridlculous of me to tell the pubhc that we are the best class ex er graduated here because we are not I do bel1eve however that our talents are sufficiently varied to warrant our hax mg reasonable confidence in ourselx es as we leave this dear old building to commence knocking at the portals of the world -113 556,111 A A geese We A A A ee WT 7777 Y Y 777 H 'Yi Y H VY 7 77 Y ir H77 2 V iii 77 : . 1 ' I D ' i r 1 5 , - . . , 1 - , 1 . , . 1 1 : y 2 ' ' 1 n 9 , :U , . - - - - 14 rr - , . of our class, Seymour Dunn, was awarded the H1-Y Scholastic Cup.
