Honors of the Day To encourage and stimulate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character in the students of Cortez High School, is the purpose ofthe National Honor Society, accor- ding to their constitution, said Charles Hoyt, club sponsor. At the beginning of the school year Cheryl Flynn, club presi- dent, said, l hope N.H.S. will be a strong, really active club. We want to get everybody involved to help the community. Her expectations were not exaggerated. N.H.S. was involved in many school, as well as community, projects throughout the year. Club members held a Halloween and an Easter party at the Latch Day School for handicapped children. They also went Christmas caraling at a rest home as part of their community services. N.H.S. also sponsored a dance and car wash and participated in the Christmas Bazaar. N.H.S. is an honor for students, said Cheryl. lt's like you're in N.H.S. to benefit others more than yaurself, she added.
