Mary L. Wilcoxon
Principal
As the school year ends, I hope you can look back
with pride over your accomplishments, and with
a smile, at the fun you have had. I am proud of
you, our staff and our school. Throughout the
year we have all been fortunate to receive out-
standing support and assistance from parents
and Peninsula Bank.
As you celebrate the end of this school year and
begin looking forward to a new start next Sep-
tember, I would like to share some thoughts with
you. You forfeit your chance for life at its fullest
when you withhold your best effort in learning.
When you give the minimum to learning you
receive only the minimum in return. Even with
your parents' best examples and your teachers'
best efforts, in the end it is your work that deter-
mines how much and how well you learn. When
you work to your full capacity you can hope to
attain the knowledge and skills that will enable
you to create your future and control your desti-
ny.

It is often said and obviously quite true that, "the
students of today are our leaders and citizens of tomor-
row." At Peninsula Bank of San Diego we honestly
believe that a special responsibility lies with the busi-
ness community today to assist in preparing today's
students for those tomorrows ahead. As an actively
involved community bank we cherish the opportunity
to support our public education system with the goal
of enhancing and influencing positively the education
and direction of the young people of our community.
The "Partners in Education" program has provided the
necessary vehicle for communication to effectively
flow between businesses and schools and, for us, it has
been an enlightening and exhilarating experience.
What was initially perceived to be a one-way flow of
support with the bank providing monetary, equip-
ment, personnel, and public relations assistance has
pleasingly developed into a two-way process. Through
the efforts of faculty, staff, students, and parents, Cor-
reia junior High has contributed greatly to the morale
image, and success of Peninsula Bank. The sharing,
giving, and support has certainly flowed both ways.
After two years we have only just begun and it is
exciting to think of the many accomplishments we
will share in the years ahead. Through the combined
efforts of parents, faculty, staff, and bank we will
produce leaders and citizens of tomorrow of whom we
will be very proud. We look forward to the challenge!
