This year's class, however, has proved the classroom method quite successful. Several teams of both boys and girls have attended tournaments in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Yoakum, and San Marcos, winning decisions over some of the best teams in the state. The first boys' team and the first girls' team will represent the school in the Texas Interscholastic League contest of 1942. Prospects are rather bright for winning the district and making a good showing in the regional and state meet. N.l-I. . 5 Ill Imm 'Q The Corpus Christi Chapter of the National Honor Society is one of 2500 such organizations which have come into being during the last 20 years. The aims of the National Honor Society are to make good citizenship in high school a matter of distinction and to help raise the secondary schools to a higher plane. Its specific purposes are: 1. To create an enthusiasm for scholarshipg 2. To stimulate a desire to render serviceg 3. To promote worthy leadershipg and 4. To encourage development in character. lembers are chosen on a basis of scholarship, leadership, character and service. During the past year the club has had two major socials, one a book character masquerade and the other a spring picnic. Two of our projects for the year were helping with the Pearl Harbor Dance ticket sales--leading all other organizations in number sold-- and beautitying the school library with potted plants and maps. These organizations are an Advanced Girls' Glee Club, A Beginning Girls' Glee Club, a Boys' Glee Club, and an A Capella Choir. In addition to regularly sche- duled formal concerts, these groups are in great demand by civic organizations and for the past two years have sung for the Vocal Division of the Texas lusic Educators' Association.
