The Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Craig Harms, new director of instrumental mu- sic, had a busy and successful year. To begin with, they took first place in their division at Ger- ry Barry stadium on Band Day. They also competed in Band Day at the Air Force Academy. In ad- dition to their competitions, the Marching Band provided colorful formations and spirit at football 7 halftimes. Steve Hale Coronado's drum major, led the 1976-77 Marching Band. Under the new direction of Mr. Craig Harms, the Stage Band had a successful year. They com- peted in the Maynard Ferguson Jazz Festival at Doherty High School, in which they placed sec- ond. During the month of Decem- ber, they put on concerts for local elementary schools. The Stage Band also had their own jazz con- cert here at Coronado in the spring and kept the spirit up at assemblies, basketball games, and other activities. Orchestra Students Prove Music Is Important Music has become very important to most young people , explains Mr. Harms, Hand Coronadois Orchestra students prove itf' Mr. Harms became the new Orches- tra teacher this year and he compared the students to other Orchestra stu- dents around Colorado. Mr. Harmes thinks Coronado's students have really improved since the beginning of the year. Orchestra performed at many ele- mentary schools and they also put on the spring Festival. no .0 Practice makes perfect during orchestra sessions.
