As Cross Country Coach Rudy Lucero said, There was much improvement this year over last yearls teamf' Dan King, team captain, was one of the top three runners in the city and among the top 15 in the state. Laurie King was Coronado's first female Harrier. Tankers Splash To Successful Season The girls, swim team had a good season. They were a young team with most of the girls coming from the junior class. Forty girls went out for the team, which is more than in previous years. One highlight of the season was when the Cougar swimmers beat Wasson for the first time, 42 to 41. There were four girls who qualified for state: Joan Egger, Karen Anderson, Carol Lucke, and Diane Bobbitt. Karen placed fifth in individual medley and sixth in 500 free. Most valuable player awards were given to Joan Egger and Karen Anderson. Joan Egger was also the captain for the team. Manager for the swim team was Senior Lynn Holloway. 'Www Coach Sue Tate looks content after successful win. Diane Bobbitt concentrates on the next event. 1 SE. .K ,tgp K X . . ....
