C Club Boosts Cougar Pride In Athletics C Club, also known as Varsity Club, is sponsored by Mr. Fred Longhart and Mrs. Bobbie Martin. This club consists of Cougars who have lettered in Cou- gar sporting events. They try to raise money to buy athletic equipment. One of their projects this year was selling red and gold hats. Reach Out is a group of concerned Cougars. It consists of separate groups led by Susan Brink, Janet Margiotta, LeRae Wagner, and Amy Whitaker. These four people have studied books on peer counseling since they were in Reach Out last year. They plan all Reach Out events, which have includ- ed several parties and a picnic. They lead their groups in discussions about problems and logical solutions to these problems. DECA -Competes In Leadership Conference -lily F-gf WT f'Q.tK z ,rx ' J, ' ,xg 1 . ,, 1 Mr. Hermann enjoys a pep assembly. Matt Sydow and Sally Ellington contribute to the success of junior DECA club. Not pictured: Eunice Woodson. Q oo O This was a very busy year for DECA students and their sponsor, Mr. Ric Hermann. To start off the year they had a successful bake sale. They later attended the South Central Leadership Conference and competed in the fol- lowing categories: market place, adver- tising display, job interviews, public speaking, sales demonstration, and testing skills in different businesses. DECA again helped sponsor its annual Christmas program for under-privi- leged children, providing gifts, refresh- ments, entertainment, and several Christmas trees. Members attended the State Lead- ership Conference at the Broadmoor in early spring. Another worthwhile service which they performed for the school was helping to sell ads for this year's Re- cuerdos. is Judy Gottschalk hopes to be a future DECA member.
