BETTY CASE . vi v if .'. ' 4 AGRICULTURE CLUB FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA W am 111 -.Q -. MUSIC The Music Department has long been an outstanding part of Copiah-Lincoln, because music is an important part of man's culture and has a tremendous effect upon his everyday living. There is a great deal of singing, especially during assembly programs and at Vespers on Sunday evenings. The students have an opportunity to participate in the Glee Club, boys, quartet, girls, sextet, band, Colettes, and high school chorus. 84 The Clee Club includes two hours, class work each week spent in sight reading, hymn singing, octavo work, and operetta work. It is supplemented with private lessons in voice. The Glee Club participates in the Christmas pageant each year. The Glee Club pre- sents an operetta each year, and the one chosen for this year is Hollywood Extra. During the year each student who is in the Glee Club is in a recital. They also participate in the worship services of the various churches. Each year the Clee Club goes to the State Junior College Choral Festival, which will be held at the City Auditorium in Jackson with Hinds Junior College as host. The sell-out Mississippi All-Star Game in ,Iackson provided the setting for the premier appearance of the 1954 edition of the Band, and with traditional first night jitters the rookies passed the test and became old hands at mixing show business and school. Tops in thrills, of course, was the wonderful trip to Washington to represent Mississippi at the National American Legion Convention. The national publicity in newspapers, television, and newsreels made this an event of importance as well as great fun. It was a perfect week! The Lions Bowl Classic, Mardi Gras, the innumerable football shows, parades, floor shows, stage shows, and even a water show, throughout Mississippi and Louisiana kept the Band, Colettes, and Orchestra busy. To add to the ever-growing list of props the Colettes danced on top of, around, sat on, and beat the drums, marched and danced with and through their showy red and white hoops, waved fancy plumes all over the place, and, inevitably, presented one show with all thirty- nine Colettes riding bicycles! Saints preserve us! fThe Seven Saints, that isll 9I ,nf- rw 1 :W ' zlwx X ., , yifij -s 9 . After a person is nominated hy students or faculty, he must be approved hy a secret screen- ing committee of students. To achieve membership, he must then receive unanimous recommendation from a faculty committee. The Trillium is proud to present three people who have met these strenuous requirements. They are the second annual selections for Copiah- Lincolnls Hall of Fame.
