This is especially true during our college years, and no influence is felt stronger or more deeply than that of our teachers. Realizing this, we gratefully dedicate this 195-4 volume of the Ca-lm trillium to Miss GRACE Hurr, wha, through her noble character and high Christian principles has had a wonderful influence upon countless numbers of students. She has worked patiently, tirelessly, and unselfishly, both in the classroom and as director of religious activities. Long after we leave Copiah-Lincoln our lives will be enriched by our association with this noble lady. Dude DONALD VAUGI-IN eeee, eeeeee B rookhaven R I N N N G ' shrills the rising bell at the unearthly hour of 6 30 a m Bleary eyed and sleepy I bury my head in my nice warm pillow in hopes of a few minutes of coveted sleep But no such luck' My disgustingly healthy and ab normally energetic roommate has bounded from behind his bunk and is pealing forth the melodious CRD strains of One Mint Julep Resigned to the fate which stares me in the face grits and a chemistry test I drag myself out of bed After a delightful breakfast of corn flakes cold toast black coffee and grits I return to my cozy little chamber After a few last minutes of frantic cramming for that first period chemistry test I dolefully set out for the Science Building un consciously hoping for some unexpected miracle specifically a postponement of the test But alas no' My doom is sealed Psychology' How fascinating it is to study people their underlying motives and abilities Its so PRACTICAL to know the twelve unhealthy modes of adlustment people resort to when they are frustrated Its sad but oftentimes true as far as a way of life is concerned Like I always say live and learn' The morning drags on and I am attacked with a series of unbearable hunger pains By I2 I5 my abdominal rumblings have become so pronounced that my fellow classmates begin to cast dlsparagmg glances in my direction With an attempt to appear innocent I begin to play a quick exciting game of tick tact toe with my alter ego In this way I content myself until the long overdue bell peals forth its welcome announcement that dinner is served The mob that breaks loose is no less than brutal As I leisurely sit down to enloy my noonday meal I am once again annoyed by the few ingrates nearby who constantly gripe about the food However my hunger craving soon overcomes my annoyance and I satisfy my passion with FOOD' Who cares if we dont have Crepe Suzette or tender luicy sirIoins'P I always did love rice. The day wears on and I grow restless for some form of excitement. The first thought that comes to mind is that of firecrackers But the tragic memory of a night spent in the Little Theater is ever with me so I immediately banish this idea from mind and content myself with a peppy game of Rook in the girls lobby. Comes 7: I5 and time for that eagerly awaited period-study hall. I settle myself with the ideal study environment-a vital factor for proper study habits I learned in my favorite course Education I5I However my efforts to accomplish some great amount of work are in vain and I amuse myself until 9:30 by drawing hundreds of isosceles triangles on a half a package of notebook paper Disgusted with myself and the world in general I set out for the bookstore for a soothing cup of lava. Then after hearing I See the Moon for the 476th time I return to my room, relaxed and ready for bed. Life is a beautiful thing, isn't it? The bandsmen, dressed in bright blue and gray uniforms, and the Colettes vivid in scarlet corduroy or in their well known Colette shirts were as familiar a sight as ever at gatherings throughout the state. Traveling in buses loaded with fireworks, beach balls, and ladders, they gave thirty-seven performances be- fore Christmas, and a great many after Christmas, spread- ing good will for Co-Lin wher- ever they went. Some of the highlights were the All-Star game in Jackson, the Lions Bowl in Laurel, Mardi Gras, and the Junior League Carnival Ball in Jackson. Besides the usu- al publicity which each year covers the band building walls, two very nice feature stories appeared-Jimmy Ward's full- page story in the Jackson Daily News, and a special article in the Mardi Gras edition of the Times-Picayune magazine sec- tion, both with a number of pictures. lt was a most successful year, and the band and Colettes had fun proving there's no business like show business. ff? i W ff' ,Q 'W s wi ,5 5 9152 .C l igsgt , H 5 ic ffm I J 'W t' 4, ,Q t I, ffl, fa I C Qs?
