H. S. expanded to include two years of high- er learning and became Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Agricultural High School. The follow- ing spring, Volume V of the Co-Lin Annual listed fewer than four hundred students enrolled and twenty-five staff members. The school plant with its five buildings was valued at S250,000. To- day the school's property, which includes seventeen buildings, is valued to S2,000,000, and the normal enrollment is approximately six hundred. Year by year, except when war interfered, th e Annual, later christened The Trillium, has faith- fully recorded the growth of which we are justly proud, the development of a varied program of activities and the maintenance of high scholastic standards. But it has attempted to reflect, too, that in which Co-Lin takes its major objective, the development of fine character in the individual and of wholesome group spirit in the student body as a whole. lt is the intent of this Silver Anniversary volume to point with tenderness and gratitude to- ward the Beginnings and the Beginners, and to present the story of Copiah-Lincoln's many tri umphs as a challenge to all of us to make ours a still greater school. The Trillium Staff Dedication T0 Mrs. 0SWalt, Miss Callender, Miss Stevens, Mr. Ewing, Mrs. Ewing, and Miss Thompson With genuine devotion and sincere gratitude we proudlydedicate this, our twenty-fifth anni- versar Trillium to you who helped to found our college and have since given freely of your time, Y , your talents, and yourselves for the past twenty-five years. You have instructed us, encouraged us, and led us by your splendid examples. We feel that by dedicating this annual to you, some of our deep love and admiration for you could be expressed. As you celebrate this quarter of a cen- tury of success, may you look forward to greater goals and successes in the years to come. wax Vsifgka. gig Xa ,.., ,ENE Y xyix mx b - xgyfj X ' Q X 3 A S ' R g wie: X X XX Q W . EWING, The Co-Lin Trillium Staff l 9 5 3 Dear Friends: Congratulations to you and the Sophomore Class you represent in publishing the 1953 annual. This yearbook will keep alive for years to come many of the friends, classmates, incidents, and activities of Copiah-Lincoln--its value to all of us will increase with the years. The l953 sophomores have provided excellent leadership. May I challenge you to continue that leadership in your local community and in your state. Most of your education has been provided at the expense of the State of Mississippi.. You have an obligation to your state that can be repaid only in good citizenship. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore, get wisdomg but with all your getting, get understanding. This statement of old is truly applicable today your education is in vain unless your heart is trained along with your mind. My wish and prayer for you is that you shall be able to assume fully your obligation to your community, state, and nationg to your church, and to your fellowman. You live most fully for yourself when you live a lifeof service. May the principles of the Great Teacher ever guide your pathway.
