P r o s p e c t u s WVhen these school days are over and life's highway looks rocky and steep, VVouldn't it be a grand celebration if perchance we should all once more meet? Meet back again on the gridiron where we've labored so hard for each score. VVe would run through the same old formations and live o'er those hours once more. There will be Spencer back on center, now I see all the other men grin, For they won't fail to remember how that boy could pass that pigskin. Then there will be Bishop for left guard and Boyd playing over on right, For the men who could take their position would have to deliver some fight. Now Mike VVilliams will play at right tackle just as in days gone by, For in our school record of football no one has reached quite so high. But at the opposite of Mike we leave vacant until after the others are placed, And then if there are no objections I will fill in that space. Choosing ends will be easy, and to do so without delay, WVill be simply to call in two scrappersg their names are Flowers and Day. Now it looks like the line is completed, but to this I don't quite agree, For there's Mullen, Sandifer and Russell, who if not better, are as good as we. So if there are complaints of rheumatics in ankle, back or knee, VVe can administer first aid in a minute and run these in, you see. On the backheld list there's Turnbow at full, with jenkins and Carney, each half, You can bet these will carry that pill with an end run, back or pass. Bruick at quarter will call each play just as in days of yore, For in many games he won the day, for joe-Joe the grandstands roar, There are three more to add to the backfield list upon this memorial day, These are Sistrunk, Hodges and Reno, for we have none better than they. Now to make this dream of mine complete and seem as though it were real, Coach McCormick and Prof. Ellzey we must meet as they stroll out on the fieldg And near at hand our mascot, too, though he looks wild, is very tame, A loyal booster and that title he's due for Scott is the lad's last name. Particularly these three have watched each move, each charge and each retreat, They would smile when we'd win and cheer us on, And laugh when we met defeat. But those were happy days we've past, And there are none like these to be until the whistle is blown at last, The call of that Great Referee, and it's true as we have heard so oft, That as He marks beside our name He writes not if we won or lost, But how we played the game. -N.
