'mg AND ORVILE I 1 The Copan football team was revised this past year after a war-time disbandment or four years. Mgst of the players had never seen action on the gridiron before. Those who had seen action before were the three veterans John Mel-Iargue, Bill Klutts, and Bud Roth, also Jim Loper had played previously with Borger, Texas. Bearing in mind that the boys were exceptionally green the team did very will, hav- ing won four games, lost four, and tied one for a percentage of five hundred. Bud Roth acted as captain for the squad, while Jim Loper called the plays. Copsn is looking forward to a very strong team one coming year, due to the fact that they lost only four lettermen this yearg We think that Coach Orville Dobbs did a great job in coacnlng the team. It was his first year at coaching football, but he turned out a team that the whole community was proud of. The Copan Girl's Basketball Team had a medicore season, winning six and losing seven games. There were ten regular players, all lettered, and will receive a basketball jacket. Taking into consideration that all girls but three were new and inexperienced, we feel that we have had a fairly good season. Kathleen Metcalf and Joy Todd, both Seniors, acted as co-captains, taking turn about being captain of the games. The prospects of the coming year for the Copan basketball girl's looks very favorable, due to the fact that only two first-team lettermen will be graduated. Mr. Hudson, Supt., was coach.
