While juniors we were kept pretty busy trying to secure enough money to entertain the seniors. We carried them to Shelby park where we played ball and had a very nice time. During our junior year Bobby Lee came from Cedar Hill to join the class. Bobby and Charles Browning make a very good pair because they both like to giggle. I suppose we had more fun putting on the junior play than anything we did all year. We will never forget Juanita Walling playing the part of the mother-in-law. A Well, we have finally reached the big year in our lives as school child- ren, the senior year. We elected Miss Mayo as our sponsor this year. Miss Mayo has taught our English since we were freshmen and has our English and History this year. We have made quite a lot of history this year, the best part, I think, being the boys basketball team 'which 'was made up of four of the senior boys and one sophomore. These boys have had a lot of fun playing ball together. They also won fourteen games and lost six. We thought this was a pretty good record. Virginia Anne Murphey came from Cedar Hill to join us this year and Billy Alley came from Springfield. This makes a total of twenty-three seniors. We seniors have had lots of fun together during our twelve years of school and we hope our friendships will last always. We will also always remember our teachers and our principals for helping us through these twelve years. Dorena Wilson, Historian

CLASS HISTORY One morning twelve years ago Miss Ruth Givens, now Mrs. Thomas Chambliss, greeted thirty little boys and girls as they took their places in the first grade room at Coopertown school. The first thing our teacher tried to teach us was how to be quiet and obey her. They are still trying to teach us. In the second grade we had as our teacher Miss Evelyn Long. We were getting used to school then, and some liked and others didn't and tried slipping home occasionally only to be brought back to school by their mothers to face a very angry teacher. But we learned we had to do a few things we didn't want to. When we reached the third grade we thought we were getting pretty big because we were moved upstairs. With Mrs. Reeves' guidance, we learned many new things. Somehow we managed to get through the third grade and entered the fourth where Miss Doris Faires took us over. This was our first year to study geography and oh, what a big word we thought that was. Remember what fun 'we had teasing Miss Faires about her boy friend? Well, she got him for keeps that very year. Then on to the fifth grade where Mrs. Jesse Lipscomb taught us. By this time some had left our class and some had joined it. In the sixth grade Miss Frances Mayo taught us. Miss Mayo didn't know it then but this was only the beginning of her troubles with us as you will later find out. In the seventh grade the class was divided into two parts, one part being taught by Mrs. Copely James and the other by Mrs. Chilton. The few who were taught by Mrs. Chilton were in the A class. Well I guess we weren't so smart after all because Mrs. Chilton said if we were the smart ones she would surely hate to teach the dumb ones. I guess we were just excited at being in the room with the eighth grade. In the eighth grade we had several new members to join our class, namely Wilola Teasley and Charles Browning from Sandy Springs and Barbara Watts, Nell Corlew and Glen Frey from Gause school and Juan- ita Dorris from Springfield. Mrs. James and Mr. John L. Head taught us this year. Besides teaching us, Mr. Head was also our basketball coach. Our team didn't do so bad either because we were runners-up in the grammar school tournament. The last of school Mrs. James and Mr. Head took us on a trip to the blind school and penitentiary. It was a very educational trip and we all really had fun. It was finally time for graduation and oh what a big day that was for us. Juanita Walling was valedictorian and Wilola Teasley salutatorf ian. Well, guess who joined us as freshmen. Yes, John Miller, Robert Watts. and Harold Binkley from Sharon. Our fun had really just started, but I admit we had to pay for it. While learning that we still had to be -dis- ciplined we were sent out of class to the office, and the boys were spanked a few times with old Samson Cthe paddlej and the girls had to write themes but we settled down after awhile. I guess we were really green freshmen if there ever were any. Mrs. Williams was our sponsor this year and was for the two succeeding years. When we were sophomores a few more had left our class. We had a perfect lame-brain record because we didn't make much history.

CLASS PROPHECY Here we go into the future, ten years away, to take a survey of the' members of the graduating class of 1950 of the Coopertown High School.. First, we find in Turnersville, Mr. and Mrs. Wick Seay and four lovely children. Mrs. Seay, the former Juanita Walling, was voted the most likely to succeed. However we never really expected her to get that far. Also in Turnersville we find Nancy Frey as Mrs. Don Crawford, As of yet, there are no children but here's hoping. We find that Nelle Corlew has become Mrs. Vernon Ross. They have two children and seemyto be very happy. MargaretAJeanette is now Mrs. Billy Ray Pratt. They have built a nice little home in the Martin's Chapel Community where Billy Ray farms. They have one girl, and if she grows up to be like her mother, she'll go along way in life. Dorena Wilson or rather Mrs. Ralph Nichols, is now living over Mt. Zion way. From what I hear, Ralph is making quite a farmer of her. And at long last, Buddy Justice has succeeded in convincing Wilola Teasley that marriage is the only thing for them. They have now been married four months, and while waiting for their new home to be fin- ished, they are living with his parents of the Kinney's Road. Juanita Dorris left Tennessee and went to Chicago where she is catch- ing up on the latest gossip. She's an operator for Bell Telephone. I see Ora Lou McMahan every now and then when she's home for the week-end. She finally finished Andrew Jackson Business University and is working as a teller in the American National Bank. Anne Murphey is still waiting for that long-lost love to drift into her life again. While waiting she is working at the Telephone office in Nash- ville. Mrs. Buddy White has now gotten quite an addition to her family. You'd probably never guess it so brace yourself while I let you in on the latest. She is now the mother of triplets. Two of our graduates of '50 went to foreign countries. Jones Elliott is very much of a success in Argentina as a farm instructor and Barbara Watts is a missionary in Egypt. John Miller is now coaching basketball and football somewhere in Indiana. I can't remember the name of the place or school, but they tell me that he is a great coach and has one of the best teams around. Robert Watts has become Vice-President of the John Deere Implement Company. He seems very much satisfied and happy. Oh yes! And he has a very charming wife and a set of twins.
