3 X1 x CARDINAL HI-LITES Concern, news, views, opinion, criticism, facts, and plenty of hard work went into another years worth of school newspapers. Each publication brought excitement, knowlege, humor, and sometimes controversy to the students of C.R.S.H. The sports round-ups, the article on teenage pregnancy, the jock cartoon, and the opinion pages were just a few items that seemed to keep the halls buzzing. These people performed a difficult task Qand did it extremely welli with little reward, and much criticism! Their journalism excellence will hopefully live on as they pursue future creative endeavors. Front: Laura Olson, Lori Norlem. Row 2: Sue Olson, Dan Kunzman, Judy Jones, JoAnn Fraizer. Girls Danceline One of the greatest assets to spirit Coon Rapids could ask for is the Cardettes. These girls not only entertain, but spark the spirit our school has been known for. They usually perform at every pep-fest and often at the sporting events themselves. The girls practice mornings and evenings perfecting their routines, and it is very hard but rewarding work. Often the group picks new music and plans out new routines coordinated to the music. This keeps variety and interest in their performances. They admit they are not perfect, but they are the closest thing to it! This year the Cardettes raised money to take a trip to Hawaii! While there they had Hula lessons, went to a luau, and saw various dance performances by local Hawaiian groups. The dance competition at Kopiolaui Park was judged by Hawaiian celebrities such as Al Harrington of Hawaii 5- O, and the Cardettes received 4th place honors. The trip was great fun as they got to swim, sun and bodysurf, and snorkel almost every day. Aloha! THE CARDETTES!
