CROSS-COUNTRY cross-country ski schedule barren. Ten of the raceslwere canceled, and this left the team practiced out unexperienoed in competition! The only races that the team participated in were the Hopkins relays and the competition against Anok. Then came the Section 4 Meet, and Jan Woodard qusiifd lor the State Mes-tg Jan placed ard in the State Meet, and was the first girl from Coon Rapids Sr. High to eeverrraoe in the State Meet! 'Jan Woodard received the Brian Knutson Award for dedication, and along with Rick Petrol? voted 'Most Valuable on the team. Pam Llndland and Den Dinnetz received the Most improved r skier awards. Pictured below is Jan starting the State Moet. DOWNHILL SKIING The team had a very good season, the boys winnrng sex and losing ten and the girls winning nine and losing seven meets lnjuries were tuckily only minor during the season and all the skiers tried hard to be picked for the regional meet Sex members of the team did make it to the regionals lout unfortunately five of them fell during their runs. Becky Hicks and Kirk Grandell were voted Most Valuable , and Sue 1-lelgeson and Lee Larson considered Most improved

BOYS SWIMMING The Cardinal swim team was vastly improved this year with a fine season to show for it. Eleven swimmers on the team advanced to the regional meet, and out of it Mark Toiietson advanced to the State Meet. Mark placed in the top fifteen in the breast stroke event and he proudly represented Coon Rapids. This was another first in Cardinal sports history. At the awards banquet Jamie Law was voted Rookie ot the Season , Dean Wright Most improved , and Mark Tollefson Most Valuable .
