This year the girls swim team had 12 meets including the conference meet at the end of the season. Although in the win-loss area they didn ' t do too well, the team greatly improved over last year. Six records were broken throughout the season. They were: 100 Free — Marcia Andersen, 100 Back — Nancy Wilson, 400 Free — Marcia Andersen, 100 Breast — Denise Breit- bach, 100 Free — Theresa Jaegar, 400 Free Relay — Janice Lund, Kim Bergman, Max Johnson, Theresa Jaegar. Everyone on the team improved times all through the sea- son. They are looking forward to a great season next year with 7 returning letter winners and their own pool! % The soccer team finished its second varsity season with an overall record of 7 wins, 9 losses, 1 tie. The team showed steady improvement as the season progressed with all the games being decided by close scores. The highlights were the 4-2 victory over Alexander Ramsay and the 1-0 victo- ry over Anoka in the first night soccer game in the North Suburban Confer- ence. This year ' s Most Valuable Player was Tom Ocel and the Most Improved Player was Mike Allen. Tom Ocel and Rocky Cashman made the North Suburban All-Conference team while Jon Morrissette, Art Sanchez, Mike Allen, and Brian Johnson received Honorable Mention All-Conference. Co-captains for the 1974 season will be Rocky Cashman and Mike Allen. 1 to keep the ball . Golfers practice on the putting p-ee Shelly Svenstad demonstrates good golfing form. GIRLS GOLF CR over Blaine by 36 strokes CR defeated by Ramsey by 40 strokes CR defeated by White Bear Lake by 8 strokes CR over Anoka by 12 strokes CR defeated by Ramsey by 18 strokes CR over White Bear Lake by 2 strokes CR defeated by Anoka by 5 strokes For the second consecutive year, the girls ' golf team had a male coach. The team proved its importance by breaking its previous years record of 0-7. This year the girls were 6-3. Girls ' golf is a relatively new sport at CR, with the greatest portion of the team being sophomores. The team expects to be even better next year because of the number of girls return- ing.
