The 1973 B-squad made the transi- tion from junior high to high school and ended up on the winning side of the ledger with a 5-3 win-loss record. This record was good enough to finish tied for second place in a well bal- anced conference. All B. squads have the responsibility to be prepared to fill gaps in the Var- sity squad left by graduating seniors. This years Varsity has left a tremen- dous winning tradition that this years B squad is committed to continue at Coon Rapids. Are Twin City Suburban Champions Junior quarterback Mark Hodsdon runs with the ball to pick up a first down. Coaches Scott and McLaughlin plan the strategy for the next play . Gary Zigan, co-captain, displays the Twin City Suburban Trophy. The 1973 Cardinal team was a unit of young men that believed in them- selves and that what they were doing was worth their effort. They were the team that made the students and people of Coon Rapids proud to be a part of the community . This team, led by captains Tom Hamre and Gary Zigan, was the first team in the history of Coon Rapids Senior High to advance to state play- offs. Although the team was defeated in the semi-fianl round, each player deserves to be congratulated for his fin€-effort throughout the season . Those named to the North Suburban all -conference squad were Tony Bro- zek, Tom Hamre, Steve Haney, John Koffski, Paul Perez, and Gary Zigan. Steve Haney was also named to the all-metro squad.
