Ski Club Wins Snow Sculpture Contest Cindy Churilla works on the cheerleaders snow sculpture. The Sophomore Class s The Snow Sculpture contest was held on Friday, February 15, as a part of Snowflake Days. Piles of snow were dumped in front of Coon Rapids Senior High and used on a first come first serve basis. Students worked on the sculptures after school on Friday and on Saturday morning before the judging. First prize, a cash award of fifteen dol- lars, went to Ski Club for their racoon on skis. Share won second place and ten dollars for their sculpture of an octo- pus, and third place went to the cheerleaders for their sculptured whale. They were awarded five dollars for their efforts . the fallen telephone booth, winning the c The theme for the 1973-74 Card Capades was Back to the Fifties. To start off the event, a pep fest was held, Em- cees were Caryn Anderson and a member of White Side- walls , a back to the fifties band. The assembly included such contests as: pack the telephone booth, a goldfish eat- ing contest, a bubble blowing contest using as much gum as you wanted, and a tricycle race. Students were asked to dress appropriately for each day of the week. Some of the days were: Hat Day, Fifties Day, Red and White Day, Gro- cho Marx Day, and Blue Jeans Day. Miss Coon Rapids was also choosen that week. Kitty Kennard was crowned Miss Coon Rapids with Noreen Holt, Linda Eigeneer, Karri Herring, and Sue Gottwald as respective runners-up. took first place in the goldfish eating contest.
