The bonfire was held to arouse school spirit . Dori Elliot and Sue Schmeidler entertain the audience. The 1973 Homecoming started Thursday, September 27, with the Key Club Variety Show and a bonfire. Susan Petrich, playing a violin solo, was the first place winner and received ten dollars. At the conclusion of the Variety Show, a bonfire was held near the football field. An Irondale Knight was thrown into the fire by Gary Zigan and Steve Haney, showing what they could expect Friday night at the game. Friday after the football game there was a dance in the cafeteria. Playing at the dance was Fantasy. The homecoming ceremonies on Friday included an assem- bly, a parade, and a football game with Irondale. Cathy Miller and Dave Hart emceed the assembly at which Dave Hammargren and Anna Brown were crowned King and Queen . Ernie Mason gave a royal talk to the Homecoming Court after the crowning of the King and Queen. The Concert Choir and the Concert Band each did a number from Cam- elot, the theme of homecoming. The faculty put on a skit showing how Irondale would be downed by Coon Rapids in the football game.
