in , 1: 'wfi' 'diff' , I l SENIOR At the unheard of hour of 4 A. M., one balmy day in May, the 1953 Senior Class cruised out of town for the annual Senior Day. They headed in the general direction of the Black Hills, including all points in and around. Arriving in the wee hours of the morning at I-Iot Springs, they proceeded to fill or stuff until they could wind themselves around the many passages of Wind Cave about ten miles away. After all pipes were smoked and the wonders of mother nature devoured, the group proceeded to a small zoo. Many MONKEYS had their pictures taken and when the film ran out, the cars set out to see Mount Rushmore Memorial, or The Faces as they are commonly called. N4 'b .I

Queen Margie and her four attendants. JUNIOR - SENIOR PROM nouGLAs COUNTRY ctus MAY 2, 1953 The annual Junior-Senior Prom was held at the Douglas Country Club on May 2, 1953. The theme, Moonlight and Roses , was used attractively in the decorations for the prom. A large moon was used for illumination and roses were suspended from the overhead decorations. The throne was a crescent moon with spotlights giving the effect of the rays of the moon. Margie Morton was crowned Queen of the Jun- ior-Senior Prom by Harry Sanford, Junior Presi- dent. Her four attendants were Nancy Anderson, Linda Brannon, Teena Froggatt, and Georgia Eg- gleston. The Junior sponsors, Sanford Vanderpoel, Don Miller, and Joan Rochford are to be congratu- lated for staging one of the better Junior-Senior Proms and Banquets. Special thanks should be ex- tended to the Junior mothers for making the Ban- quet a success. Close-up of Queen Margie in her Moonlight and Roses' setting. Harold Moewes gives address, The Best Years of Your Life . Dance shot of the Junior Prom held at the Douglas Country Club. Refreshments aid in cooling the brows of the avid dancers. ,f yv-L

DAY W-tb 'W 1 .. 1 . u- Ji..n.W There they settled down in the comforts of home to eat, relax, and play ball. After much study fl-Ia!l and enthusiasm the band of eager beavers took to the road again, following the compass backin the direction of Hot Springs, where everyone bathed in the famous Evans Plunge. Finally dragging th e i r d rip p i n g bodies out, their attention centered on their stomaches and most of the food disappeared. A tired half hysterical group of Senior's left Hot Springs that night and headed for good old D. H. S. and most of all -- home. N , x Q N gg- fri I '49
