V , Although it was given on Lincoln's birthday, they used Valentine decoraq tions. As you came in you passed through a large heart. The lights were CGVQ, ered with paper and gave a dull red glow, giving a wonderful effect tai room. A The baskets were covered with red hearts. The stage was screened by narrow red and white streamers, back of which sat Buster's Black Cats. In two opposite cornerswere The Cozy Corners. In another was the stand. The punch girls were dressed in white dresses with heart apronsafldr caps. Guided by two small cupids, Francis Roush, the class president, an Jessie Cunningham, led the Grand March, which finally ened in a huge heart. Then they marched by the punch stand and received programs and later favors were given out. Candy hearts were served with the punch. Phyllis Carmen, dressed asa Spaniard, danced a Gypsy dance. They danced and about eleven o'clock a lunch was served. The music was furnished by The Curry lirothers. -A-M. lt.. '.Z7. Un Uctober 29, llllo, the llirls' l'ep Club gave a Hard Time party in the auditorium. liarrels and sawhorses with planks over them served as benches. Sage-- brush was strewn about the hall. The juniors and Seniors. in their overalls, made very good-looking boys. The Sophomores and Freshmen had many clever costumes. Miss floon and Miss Mau made the best sheiks ever and Miss l.inke and Miss Grantham were the cutest little girls there. The music was furnished by Huster's ltlack Cats. ---M. ll.. 127. The Freshman-Sophomore Party Un the evening of April 23, 1927. the Freshmen gave a party for the Sophomores. At 8 o'clock l1uster's Iilack Cats put forth some music which was verv pleasinff to all. lCvervone hesitated about dancing at first until a ' , as . N bold couple went on the floor and started to dance. Then everyone began dancing. l,ater in the evening Chloris jones. accompanied by Florence llrady. sang. Smile Through Your Tears. liveryone enjoyed her solo so much, that Chloris responded to an encore. Une of the events of the evening was a square dance, in which Sophomores. lfreshmen and some teachers took part. Miss Coon and her partner surely can dance it. After the strains of the square dance had died away. Mr. and Mrs. Nordgren led a grand march. with everyone participating. The boys fished for partners for one dance. Some of the more bashful ones refused to fish, others were franticaly trying to exchange the fish they caught, Refreshments, consisting of sandwiches, ice cream. cake. and coffee were served about lll:3U. Strange as it may seem more people appeared at refresh- ment time than at any other time during the evening. .-Nt ll the orchestra played Home, Sweet Home. -UI. P., '30.
