'Tis old and you ought to know It's a story of life in an old high school- 'l'he one we all loved so. Once its halls resounded with pleasure, And the thought of each New Year, Came down with work and also leisure, Its companions were always near. Alas! That was long, long, years ago, The schoolhouse has now been fixed: So it does not look like the one I knew. In nineteen hundred twenty-seven. It happened, one day, I wandered there, just to pass my time away: I wanted my childhood memories to share, And to come back to me that day. I opened the door and stepped inside, Ah! I did not know- That years had gone since I did abide, And that they changed it so. I climbed the old, old stairs alone, So solitary and blue, Then my lips escaped a moan- I saw no one I knew! Strange faces and smiling eyes looked up No one said, I-low do you do! I turned away, simply out of luck- VVith me, that school was through. Ilack to the world I went again XVith just plain memories of old, I suddenly realized it was a dream then In those days Know unforetoldd And now as these words I tell you, It seems that I want to say, I wish I was back to that old school, Back to that high school, today. Xfxsfffif To Ea! I'oor old -Iallitol' lid, The one who never gets to bed, Because of parties and all Staying up to get decorations ot? the wall. The one who does all the work And treats the kids like a clerk, His poor old broom never rests From being pushed under the desks. -JUST GUESS. 1 1 I
