POM As the countdown reached the last 30 days, the ship entered POM, prepara- tion for overseas movement. For some, it meant a chance to take leave and visit family and loved ones. For others, it was a last-minute rush to finish needed repairs and renovation. It would be a time of preparation and planning. Hard-to-get items were procured now. because everyone knew that the middle of the Indian Ocean is no place to find out that an essential item is not available on board.
